Ode to a Terzanelle

Like the ocean in its orb,
Waves lapping up the sand,
I like the way the lines repeat, absorb.

With a caring, careful hand,
The Creator pulls and twists and makes
Waves lapping up the sand.

From all the rivers, streams, and lakes
Of words and images, the poet,
The creator, pulls and twists and makes

Another world to show it
Reflecting ours, and out
Of words and images, the poet

Finds himself transformed, no doubt,
By the writing of the words,
Reflecting ours, and out

Of those efforts,
Like the ocean in its orb,
By the writing of the words,

I like the way the lines repeat, absorb.
